William Letts Oliver miscellany, 1876-1907.

Vol. 1 and v. 2: Abstracts of title and related papers for two properties in Oakland, Calif. The first, dated 1887, for land on Central Ave. (or West Twelfth St.) near Linden, contains loose title papers relating to Oliver's purchase of a home at 1110 Twelfth St. from Gustave C.P. Hornung of Marysville, and includes deeds to the property from Harriet G. Loring, 1876 and from R. W. Edwards, 1877, as well as the sales contract and tax receipts. The second, dated 1906, for Block 37, between Jackson and Madison St. and Fourth and Fifth Streets, contains a letter from attorney, Frederic W. Hall, reporting his filing of the deed from Madison Street Planing Mills to Oliver. A small (1.25"x.75") black and white portrait of G.W. McKeand, the searcher of records, is mounted on the back inside cover of v. 2. Vol. 3: "Extracts from a report to the Borneo Company, on the occurrence and metallurgy of quicksilver ores," by Louis Janin, Jr., M.E. Vol. 4: Scrapbook on explosive materials and explosions, 1876-1882.
